Trump says he would consider having Tucker Carlson as vice president because “he's got great common sense”

"When they say that you are conservative or that I am conservative, it is not that we are conservative. We have common sense," argued the former president about the possibility of the host being his running mate.

Former President of the United States, Donald Trump, appeared this week on "The Clay Travis and Buck Sexton Show," where he was asked about his next potential running mate. Specifically, he was asked about former Fox News host Tucker Carlson.

"Would you consider Tucker Carlson on your VP list? I want to give you a hypothetical here. You're a big sports fan. You know, like Nick Saban's going to retire at some point and if you talk to the athletic director at Alabama, he would say he has a list. So, would Tucker Carlson be on your list of potential VPs? And how many names might be on that list as you sit and look and survey the political field?" they asked Trump, who limited himself to answering about Carlson.

"I like Tucker a lot. I guess I would. I think I'd say I would because he's got great common sense," replied the former president.

"You know, when they say that you guys are conservative or I'm conservative, it's not that we're conservative. We have common sense. We want to have safe borders. We want to have a wall because walls work," he stated, leaving the possibility of a Trump-Carlson 2024 presidential formula open.

The last meeting between Trump and Carlson was last August when the former Fox News host and the Republican had a conversation launched on X (Twitter) at the same time as the first Republican presidential debate was taking place.

That interview, at the time, was the most viewed video in the history of X, quickly reaching 200 million views, which increased as the days went by until it reached 266 million views.

Only Tucker's interview with Argentine economist and presidential candidate Javier Milei surpassed Trump's, reaching 422 million views.

Tucker Carlson was at the time the most-watched presenter on television networks in the United States. However, he was fired from Fox News in April, just days after the network agreed to pay Dominion Voting Systems $787 million to settle defamation lawsuits out of court.
