A month after the first debate was held, seven candidates for the Republican Party primaries will meet again. This time it will be held on Wednesday at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library, located in the city of Simi Valley (California).

Ron DeSantis, Vivek Ramaswamy, Nikki Haley, Mike Pence, Chris Christie, Tim Scott and Doug Burgum may participate in this second debate. They have all met the criteria for donations and surveys.

Neither former Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchinson nor former Texas Representative Will Hurd managed to qualify, so they will not have the option to debate with their party colleagues. Ryan Binkley, Larry Elder and Perry Johnson will also not be there. Miami Mayor Francis Suárez dropped out of the presidential race before the first debate.

Donald Trump will not be there. The former president announced that he will travel to Detroit (Michigan) to support the motor industry workers who are on strike. He also did not participate in the first debate after stating that voters already knew who he was and that he had no need to make himself known.

Who won the first debate?

The first of the Republican debates was followed by 12.8 million viewers across the different channels on which it was broadcast: television and the Fox website, the network that will also provide coverage this Wednesday.

The polls showed Florida Governor Ron DeSantis as the winner. Behind him, Vivek Ramaswamy and Nikki Haley. A debate in which the most viral topics were discussed, such as the incidents that occurred at the Capitol on January 6, 2021, and the economy. The figure of Donald Trump was also on the lips of the Republican candidates present there.

At Voz Media we did an analysis of the impressions that the first debate left us and who we consider to be the winners.
