Poll: DeSantis leads by 23 points against Trump in hypothetical Republican primary
According to the USA Today/Suffolk University poll, both are projected to lose against Joe Biden in the the 2024 presidential election.
The midterm elections in the United States marked a turning of the page in regards to several national political issues. Not only because the Republican Party managed to win the majority in the House of Representatives and balance Congress, but also because it seems that the view and perception of many voters has evolved. Along those lines, a new USA Today/Suffolk University poll found Ron DeSantis leading Donald Trump by 23 points in a hypothetical Republican primary election.
The poll, published Tuesday, saw 56 percent of the votes go to the Florida governor and just 33 percent to the former president. Despite the results, the same study assured that 60 percent of voters agree with Trump's policies but prefer another political figure to carry them out.
Both would lose to Biden
On the other hand, 31 percent of Republican voters supported Trump to earn candidacy for the third consecutive election. In July, that figure was near 60 percent, but as the months passed, and especially after DeSantis' strong performance in the midterm elections, it began to decline.
The survey also projected the results of a potential rematch between Joe Biden and Donald Trump in the 2024 general election. Biden won the poll by a seven-point margin, 47% to 40%. Biden was also projected to win over Governor DeSantis, but the margin was just four points.
