Jill Biden justifies the "stagnation" of her husband's White House Administration
The first lady has expressed her frustration that the president has not been able to carry out the plans he had in mind.
First Lady Jill Biden has lamented the president's "stagnant" administration and justified the poor results by foisting them on "unforeseen crises."
"The president had so many hopes and plans for the things he wanted to do, but every time you turned around, he had to address the problems of the moment," said Jill Biden, during a Democratic National Committee fundraiser in Massachusetts, in statements picked up by Cnn.
Jill Biden Biden detailed the Supreme Court's abortion decision, the war in Ukraine and gun violence in the country as some of the issues that have hindered the president's work.
Joe Biden's future
The First Lady's justifications come against the backdrop of the worst approval ratings a U.S. president has had in the last 75 years, with President Biden's popularity plummeting to 38.4%, according to several polls, including one conducted by FiveThirtyEight.
Another New York Times/Siena College poll finds that only 33% of voters overall approve of President Joe Biden's performance. Within the Democrat Party, 94% of those under 30 said they would prefer a different presidential candidate for another term and 64% of Democratic voters responded that they would prefer someone else to head the national ticket in the next presidential election. Despite not having the popular support Joe Biden seems to be determined to run in 2024 to try to be reelected.
For her part, the first lady also justified her job performance: "I said to myself, 'Okay, I've been second lady. I worked in community colleges. I worked in military families. I worked on cancer.' Those were supposed to be my areas of interest. But then when we got (to the White House) I had to be, with everything that was going on, the first lady of the moment."
