The two workers at a Stockton (California) 7-Eleven who beat up a robber who attempted to rob the store a few days ago will not be charged, District Attorney Ron Freitas confirmed.
"The store clercks are not and have never been suspects. Any investigation going forward is to hold accountable the individual who threatened and attempted to rob the store clerks," Freitas said. Earlier, the town's mayor, Kevin Lincoln, noted that "the events are under active investigation." He also stated that "the Stockton Police Department will forward the case to the San Joaquin County District Attorney's Office," before the prosecutor confirmed that the two workers would not be charged.

Authorities arrested the thief on Monday. This is not the first crime he has committed.
The events occurred in the early morning of July 28. The assailant entered the store with a garbage can and began filling it with packets of cigarettes. The employees repeatedly told him to stop and leave the store, but the thief ignored them. He even threatened them. It was then that one of the workers threw him to the ground and the other hit him with a wooden stick. They then lifted him up and threw him out of the establishment.
