Broadway turns its back on Hollywood, will not join the strike

The IATSE union and the producers reached a tentative agreement so that the world's biggest musical and theatrical destination will not suffer the consequences of the stoppage.

Broadway will not join the Hollywood strike, at least for the time being. The union representing the world's largest group of music and theater performers announced that it reached a tentative agreement with theater owners, play producers and operators not to go on strike, like the movie and TV writers and actors. The hiatus that has already affected major events such as Comic-Con.

This Wednesday, the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE) union voted on whether to join the strike or maintain performances at Broadway theaters. The union reached a tentative agreement with The Broadway League so that 28 productions and 17 touring shows in the U.S. and Canada would not be affected.

Now it is the IATSE members’ turn to ratify an agreement that the union and producers have been negotiating since the end of May.
