Biden finally will visit the southern border, but he will do so on the same day as Trump

Trump's campaign assured that the president has already had three years to visit the place and "fix the crisis that he himself created."

Joe Biden and Donald Trump will visit the southern border on the same day. The president confirmed his trip on Monday, and coincidentally, it will also coincide with Trump's presence. The former Republican president's campaign criticized Biden and noted that he "has had three years to visit the border and solve the crisis it created."

The Biden Administration's relationship with the southern border is not exactly the happiest. Mid-2021 turned out to be the beginning of the end for the popularity of Kamala Harris, whose approval ratings have been in the red since her boss appointed her to deal with the border crisis.

According to a recent Harvard CAPS-Harris survey, voters see the southern border as the president's biggest failure. "44 percent of respondents said allowing the influx of migrants that have come across the border has been Biden's biggest failure," The Hill reported.

Even House Republicans approved the impeachment of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, alleging that he failed to uphold his oath.

An "attempt to chase Trump to the border"

As The New York Times reported, Biden will pass through Brownsville, Texas, on the same day Trump is scheduled to stop by to assess the situation and speak with locals about the border crisis.

The president has already visited the border once, although according to locals, it was only for "a dog and pony show" that didn't "get to the heart of the issue."

Biden's visit is intended to improve his image ahead of the November presidential elections and comes after more than 7.2 million illegal aliens, a figure greater than the population of 36 states, have entered the country during their first three years in office.

However, Biden is expected to blame congressional Republicans for the situation. "He will reiterate his calls for Congressional Republicans to stop playing politics and to provide the funding needed for additional U.S. Border Patrol agents, more asylum officers, fentanyl detection technology and more," an official of the government said in dialogue with POLITICO.

The Republican's campaign targeted the Democrat for what they understand as a "last-minute, insincere attempt to chase President Trump to the border."

"Crooked Joe Biden has had three years to visit the border and fix the crisis he created. Now Biden's handlers are sending him there on the same day as President Trump's publicly reported trip, not because they actually want to solve the problem, but because they know Biden is losing terribly," spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt said of the former president.
