Aerosmith has been forced to postpone its farewell tour. The reason is "vocal cord damage" suffered by the group's lead singer, Steven Tyler, for which he has received strict medical orders not to sing for the next 30 days. This was revealed by Tyler himself on social media:
“I’m heartbroken to say I have received strict doctor’s orders not to sing for the next thirty days. I sustained vocal cord damage during Saturday’s show that led to subsequent bleeding. We’ll need to postpone a few dates so that we can come back and give you the performance you… pic.twitter.com/bDT8tqmEcP

The concerts to be postponed are part of the "Peace Out" tour, which will be the band's last. They are in Detroit, Chicago, Washington, Toronto, Cleveland and Raleigh, N.C. Tickets purchased for these shows, the statement says, "will be honored for the rescheduled dates." In addition, fans who are unable to attend the event will be able to request a refund of their tickets:
Refunds will be available for those unable to attend. Fans with questions regarding refunds are asked to reach out to their point of purchase.
Steven Tyler's medical problems
This is not the first time that medical problems have affected Aerosmith's farewell tour. In December of last year, the band was forced to cancel two concerts they had planned in Las Vegas. Again, the cause was Steven Tyler's health: "On the advice of doctors, Steven has to sit these out. Stay healthy and we’ll see you in the new year," the band wrote at the time, per Fox News.
In May 2023, history repeated itself and, once again, Tyler's health concerns were to blame for the cancellation of the concerts that Aerosmith had planned in Las Vegas in June and July. In a statement posted on Instagram, which is no longer available, the band assured that the singer had relapsed in his problems with alcohol:
As many of you know, our beloved brother Steven has worked on his sobriety for many years. After foot surgery to prepare for the stage and the necessity of pain management during the process, he has recently relapsed and voluntarily entered a treatment program to concentrate on his health and recovery.
Aerosmith's farewell tour is not the only one that has had to be rescheduled. Recently, Bruce Springsteen also announced that, due to medical problems, he was forced to postpone several of his concerts.
