Do you plan to buy an electric vehicle (EV)? 63% of Americans do not, according to a recent Pew Research Center poll.
Half of American adults said they will not consider or are unlikely to consider buying an electric car. Another 13% clearly stated that they do not plan to purchase EVs.
There are clear partisan divisions. While 70% of Republicans say they would not consider switching to electric mobility and only 20% say they would. Meanwhile, 56% of Democrats say they would buy EVs while 30% would not.
A large majority (73%) of Republicans say they would be "upset" if the U.S. stopped producing gasoline vehicles. Democrats are more mixed. Thirty-seven percent would feel "excited" to phase out gas-powered vehicles while 43% feel neutral and 20% dislike the idea.
Consumers are not the only ones who said they were concerned or against Biden's plan to boost electric car sales. Several days ago, some of the country's largest manufacturers warned that it would be unfeasible.
