Smash hit: 'Sound of Freedom' sells one million advance tickets

Eduardo Verástegui, co-producer and co-star of the film, vindicated his fight against child trafficking through cinema in declarations to Mega TV: "God's children are not for sale."

This July 4, the premiere of Sound of Freedom, a film that denounces the worldwide trafficking and exploitation of minors, a cruel reality that generates more than 152 billion dollars annually through sexual abuse and the sale of children's organs. Audiences have received the film in the best possible way. Eduardo Verástegui, co-producer and co-star, confirmed to our colleague Camilo Loret de Mola of Mega TV the success of the film before its arrival in theaters:

Very happy because the goal was two million people in the cinema for two million children trafficked this year. We have already passed the one million mark in presales. So half of it has already been achieved, the other half I hope people will respond and go to the movies this week.

Specifically, Sound of Freedom has grossed $10 million in presale, Deadline reported.

"God's children are not for sale"

Verástegui explained why he decided to produce Sound of Freedom:

Many people are still unaware of the subject. I was one of them. Eight years ago, I met Tim Ballard in Los Angeles and he told me what he does, he travels around the world with a group of former Navy Seals, former military agents, former CIA and FBI undercover to rescue children from sexual exploitation, when they told me in detail what happens to these children, you can no longer stand idly by, you can no longer remain silent because silence encourages the executioner. You can't turn away because evil triumphs when good people keep quiet. It became clear to me that a new mission was born: to pause everything I was doing to dedicate myself 100% to fighting child trafficking through a film, which is what I do. I have a very powerful weapon, the cinema, a powerful weapon of mass instruction and inspiration.

The co-producer and co-star told us that the film was to be shown in more than 3,000 theaters in the United States. "Together, we will end the trafficking of children for sexual exploitation. I invite you to become an ambassador of freedom. Join the movement, be part of this army. God's children are not for sale," concluded Verástegui.

Presidential candidate in Mexico?

When asked if he has political aspirations for next year's Mexican federal elections, Verástegui did not say for sure but did not rule out running either:

Many people have asked me. Many people are inviting me to take that step. I have been thinking about it, evaluating it and, above all, praying. I have been praying for God's will to come out in my life. You will know the answer very soon.
