Democratic Senator John Fetterman assured that there are other Democratic candidates for the White House besides Joe Biden. He maintained that one of them is California Governor Gavin Newsom but that he does not have the courage to announce it.
"One is a congressman from Minnesota, the other one is the governor of California, but only one has the guts to announce it," Fetterman said during a meeting with the media, including NBC News, after an event in Iowa.
Fetterman's comments come despite Newsom insisting he will back the incumbent president in the presidential race. However, his latest actions have generated rumors about his potential candidacy.
For example, his trip to China raised eyebrows. The Democratic governor met with President Xi Jinping in Beijing two weeks ago. Newsom's office published a video reporting the meeting.
In addition, the governor of California has carried out different strategies to be one of Joe Biden's rivals in the Democratic primaries. For example, he founded a Political Action Committee (PAC) in March called the Newsom Democracy Campaign. Newsom's goals with that PAC are to create a constitutional amendment for gun control and to take on Republican governors from other states.
Additionally, Newsom agreed to debate Republican candidate Ron DeSantis.

Fetterman is not the only one who has implied that Newsom intends to run in this election. Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy also commented last month that Newsom "is running for president, doing it and doing it in disguise, doing it with a track record at a state that is more disastrous by the day," according to statements reported by NBC News.
Currently, Joe Biden is facing a decline in his approval. In fact, even members of his own party are concerned. According to the latest polls, 62% of respondents said they prefer any other Democratic candidate over Biden, who only garners 33% support.
