Philadelphia: At least six missing and two police officers shot and wounded in house shooting that ended in fire

Officers responded to a call that an 11-year-old girl had been shot and were met with gunfire from inside the property, which ended up having extensive fire damage.

The Delaware County District Attorney in Philadelphia Jack Stollsteimer reported that two police officers were shot and wounded after responding to a report of a shooting at a house that caught fire. According to Stollsteimer, at least six people were inside the property when the fire started and it is feared that they may have been killed.

Police met with gunfire

During a press conference, the prosecutor stated that officers responded to a call at a home in East Lansdowne that an 11-year-old girl had been shot. Upon arrival, they were shot at from inside the house. As a result of the attack, one officer was shot in the arm and a second in the leg. The other officers managed to get them out of the line of fire.

The house caught fire shortly thereafter. The causes of the fire are not yet known, although the authorities have indicated that the fire seemed to start from the inside of the home. Flames could be seen coming out of the third-floor windows and the roof before spreading to the rest of the home, destroying most of the structure. It is unknown how many people were in the home when it collapsed, although there may have been at least six people, including children, according to the prosecutor. "We fear that there are several people dead in that house. We are hopeful that is not true."
