Hugh Jackman and Deborra-Lee Jackman divorce after 27 years of marriage

According to a People magazine exclusive, the couple decided to end their relationship amicably and move forward with "gratitude, love and kindness."

Hugh Jackman and his wife Deborra-Lee have filed for divorce. According to a statement shared with People magazine, the couple decided to end their marriage amicably:

We have been blessed to share almost 3 decades together as husband and wife in a wonderful, loving marriage. Our journey now is shifting and we have decided to separate to pursue our individual growth.Our family has been and always will be our highest priority. We undertake this next chapter with gratitude, love, and kindness. We greatly appreciate your understanding in respecting our privacy as our family navigates this transition in all of our lives.

The statement was signed by: "Deb and Hugh Jackman," and it concludes by saying that "this is the sole statement either of us will make."

A marriage of 27 years

The actors met in 1995 while filming an Australian television series called “Corelli.” Deborra, as People recalls, "already an established actress, and Hugh, then an upstart actor fresh out of drama school."

It took less than a year after they met for the couple to get married in April 1996. The Australian couple celebrated 27 years of marriage and were considered one of the longest-lasting and most committed couples in Hollywood. They have two children together: Oscar, 23, and Ava, 18.
