Formula 1: the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez, ready for the Mexican Grand Prix

'Checo' Pérez will seek to maintain his second position in the World Cup in front of his fans. The race will be held on Sunday, October 29.

The Mexican asphalt is already prepared for the next Formula 1 race. The ten teams and twenty drivers have already traveled the more than 900 miles that separate Austin (Texas) - where the United States Grand Prix was held last weekend at the Circuit of the Americas - to Mexico City, where between the 27th and 29th will be held the Mexican Grand Prix at the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez.

The race organization published the schedules for each of the events. Friday is the day designated for free practices. At 12:30 (Mexico City time) there will be the first session and at 16:00 the second. The last free practice session will be held on Saturday at 11:30 and at 3:00 p.m. the classification is scheduled to determine in which position each of the drivers starts. On Sunday, at 2:00 p.m., the race will take place.

'Checo' Pérez, in front of his fans

Sergio Checo Pérez will have the support of the home fans. With no chance of finishing as World champion, the Mexican driver of the Red Bull Racing team arrives at this grand prix with the aim of maintaining second place and being runner-up at the end of the season. His immediate pursuer, the British Lewis Hamilton, is 39 points behind him.

In Austin, the Mexican became the tenth driver with the most Formula 1 races in history. From his X account (formerly Twitter), the race organizers showed him their support and welcomed him.

Verstappen's unquestionable dominance

Max Verstappen won his third F1 World title at the Qatar Grand Prix that took place between October 6 and 8. The Dutch driver has had no rival this season and his leadership is unquestionable: with four races remaining, he achieved victory in 15 races - only Checo Pérez in two grand prix and Carlos Sainz in one managed to snatch the victory from him. In addition, he has stood on the podium 17 times. He only had one slip in the Singapore Grand Prix, where he finished in fifth position.

In the last grand prix held in Austin, Verstappen won. He thus added his 50th victory in his career in Formula 1. Benefiting from Hamilton's disqualification due to an irregularity in his car, the British Lando Norris finished in second position, while Sainz completed the podium.

Four races to go until the end of the season

The Mexican Grand Prix will be the prelude to the Brazilian Grand Prix, which will take place from November 3 to 5 and will be the penultimate race of the season. After this, the Las Vegas Grand Prix (from November 17 to 19) and the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix (from November 24 to 26) will be held, which will end the 2023 Formula 1 World Championship.
