In a significant advance in the fight against Hamas, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) achieved the complete dismantling of the three terrorist battalions operating in the strategic area of Jabalya in northern Gaza. The takeover of the city marks a milestone in the Israeli military operation against the extremist group.

Following the end of the ceasefire agreement, Israel needed approximately two and a half weeks of intense fighting to dismantle Hamas' military capabilities in the town completely.

Throughout the operation, the IDF carried out the elimination of more than a thousand Hamas members, as well as the arrest of 500 terrorists and 3,000 non-combatants linked to the extremist group, as reported by The Jerusalem Post.

The Israeli army also destroyed more than 57 homes of the 70 terrorists who participated in the October 7 massacre in southern Israel, and the remaining 13 homes are planned for demolition as part of security measures.

Additionally, Israeli forces are carrying out daily destruction of around 40 structures containing booby traps and weapons belonging to the terrorist group.

It should be noted that the fight against Hamas is not limited to the surface; The IDF also carried out an intensive underground operation to inspect and destroy the terrorist group's tunnels in Jabalya.

One of the key elements in the takeover of the city was the occupation of two houses connected to the leader of Hamas in Gaza, Yahya Sinwar. These residences, located east of Shaati, contained important intelligence elements linked to Sinwar, as well as an underground network connecting to Hamas military headquarters, Shifa hospital, and a mosque used for terrorist operations.

Israel enters the next phase

Despite the success achieved in Jabalya, the IDF is already preparing for the next phase of the operation, which involves gaining control of the areas of Daraj and Tuffah, two areas in northern Gaza where the IDF has not yet carried out large-scale operations. According to reports, these two areas are the only ones in northern Gaza where rockets continue to be constantly launched at Israel.
