Hamas released the first video of an Israeli hostage since the war began. Without specifying when the video was recorded, they put Maia Shem on camera, a 21-year-old girl who claims to be “looked after and cared for” by the terrorists after she injured her arm. According to reports, Israel understands that the publication is a “psychological war” given that the jihadist group was also pressing for the release of its men detained in Israel.

As reported on Monday by Daniel Hagari, spokesman for the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), the number of Jewish hostages held by the terrorist group rose to 199. However, the figure does not include hostages of other nationalities.

In this context, Hamas released the first images of a kidnapped woman staring at the camera in an unknown location. It is also not known when the video was recorded. Maia Shem was reportedly captured at the “Nova” electronic music festival in Ra’im.

After the video was released, an IDF spokesperson said, “Hamas wants to show itself as a humanitarian organization.” However, he said everyone knows it is a “terrorist and murderous organization, responsible for the murder and kidnapping of babies, women, children and the elderly.”

Her mother’s response: “I demand that my baby comes home exactly as she looks.”

Karem Shem, Maia’s mother, spoke with Ynet and confirmed that it was the first proof of life she received from her daughter. “I know my baby is alive, but until now, I was uncertain. There was only a hypothesis that she was kidnapped; we didn’t know anything. Now I saw my daughter, who was injured. You can see that she is suffering, scared, but seems to be in stable condition. I almost fainted, I fell to the ground, I couldn’t believe I was seeing her,” she indicated.

In turn, she addressed world leaders directly and demanded that her daughter be returned safely. “I demand that my baby comes home exactly as she looks, exactly like in the video. She will come to me and I will take care of her and take her, she will receive medical treatment in Israel. Furthermore, I demand that our 200 kidnapped people return home. Here are the children, boys and girls who came out to celebrate life and be at a party. This is not where they should be,” she added.

What did Maia Shem say?

“I am Maia Shem, I am twenty-one years old and I am from Shoham. I am currently in Gaza. I returned early on Saturday morning from a party in the Sderot area. I was seriously injured in my arm. They brought me to Gaza and took me to the hospital here for three hours. They have been taking care of me, providing me with medication. I only ask that you take me back home as soon as possible to my family, my parents, my brothers. Please get me out of here as quickly as possible,” said the young woman in the video released by Hamas.
