The Toronto Blue Jays defeated the New York Yankees 4-2 on Friday in Major League Baseball, thanks to a crucial play by Mexico's Alejandro Kirk in the ninth inning. With the Yankees leading 2-1, the Tijuana native hit a double to center field, driving in runs for Venezuelan Andrés Giménez and American George Springer.

The Canadian team took the lead at Yankee Stadium, and with a single by Addison Barger, sealed their first victory in the last six games.

Earlier, their star Vladimir Guerrero Jr. had kicked off the scoring in the Bronx with a 126-yard home run in the sixth inning.

Throughout his career, Guerrero Jr. has hit 15 home runs at the current Yankee Stadium, which opened in 2009, matching the fifth-highest total by a visiting player.

Puerto Rican José Berríos, Toronto's pitcher, allowed five hits in five and a third innings, marking his first start without conceding a run since last August.

Venezuelan Oswaldo Cabrera drove in a run for the Yankees with a single in the seventh inning, while home star Aaron Judge recorded a hit in all four of his at-bats.

The Bronx Bombers remain at the top of the American League East with a record of 15 wins and 11 losses, while the Blue Jays are in third place at 13-13.

In St. Louis, the Cardinals defeated the Milwaukee Brewers 3-2. Jackson Chourio, the young star for the visitors, extended his streak to 11 games without a home run but recorded two hits and a strikeout.

The Cincinnati Reds defeated the Colorado Rockies 8-7 on the road, thanks to Dominican Noelvi Marte, who recorded three hits and drove in two runs, and Elly De La Cruz, who added two hits and two RBIs.
