Thanks to family-friendly movies like Pokémon: Detective Pikachu or blockbusters like Deadpool, Ryan Reynolds has become one of the most sought-after actors in Hollywood and one of the most recognized names. The money he receives for each of the movies he stars in allows him to be able to invest in one of his passions: sports. He recently bought part of the shares of the Alpine F1 Team.

Reynolds is already one of the co-owners of this Formula 1 team, which is fifth in the overall standings this season. In a press release, Alpine F1 Team announced that it has sold 24% of its shares for nearly $220 million to an investment group that Reynolds belongs to.

Renault Group and Alpine welcome Otro Capital and their partner, RedBird Capital Partners, along with Maximum Effort Investments (together, the “Investor Group”) to Alpine Racing Ltd, the entity in charge of Formula 1 activities based in Enstone (UK). The Investor Group is investing €200 million, representing a 24% equity stake, to support Alpine’s growth strategy and sporting ambitions in Formula 1. The Investor Group brings together a unique combination of expertise. Otro Capital and RedBird Capital Partners, with the brand-building skills of Maximum Effort Investments (led by Ryan Reynolds) will bring successful sports & media experience and operational expertise in building high-growth companies.

A new addition to his sports portfolio

Reynolds' 24% stake purchase in Alpine F1 Team is his latest sports investment. In 2020, the actor acquired, together with the multi-talented Rob McElhenney, the Welsh soccer club Wrexham Association Football Club, which was promoted this year and will play in the British fourth division next season.
