The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) announced the detention of more than 230 undocumented immigrants, including more than 40 holders of commercial driver's licenses, during an operation carried out in 15 states across the country to combat irregularities in the freight transportation sector.
The operation, dubbed Operation Guardian, took place between October 26 and 28 and was coordinated by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), with support from state and local authorities.
Secretary of Homeland Security Markwayne Mullin presented the results on Monday during a press conference in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and highlighted the collaboration between federal agencies and law enforcement.
According to the official DHS statement, the operation focused on immigrants without legal status who held unauthorized commercial licenses and on other individuals considered potential threats to public safety related to the transportation of goods.
Arrests and cases under investigation
The actions took place in Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Iowa, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Tennessee and Texas.
Among the incidents highlighted by authorities was the arrest of a Honduran citizen identified as Luis Armando Garlo Rodríguez, who was stopped in Oklahoma while driving a vehicle reported stolen in Texas.
According to DHS, the man resisted arrest and injured an agent before attempting to flee. He was subsequently apprehended and faces federal charges related to assault and resisting law enforcement.
In a separate operation, Oklahoma agents intercepted a vehicle carrying seven undocumented immigrants, including an unaccompanied minor. The driver, identified as Arturo Alvarado-Islas, a Mexican national, was taken into ICE custody.
More than 4,700 arrests related to business licenses since 2025
The Trump administration has intensified immigration enforcement in the freight transportation sector through operations aimed at identifying drivers who do not meet the legal requirements to operate commercial vehicles.
According to figures released by DHS, between January 20, 2025 and October 28, 2026, ICE made 4,795 arrests related to commercial driver's licenses, of which 1,233 involved individuals who held such licenses.
In addition, another federal initiative called Operation Guardrail, launched on September 25, had resulted in 303 arrests as of October 29.
The information was also reported by Breitbart News, which highlighted the results of the inspections and the measures taken by authorities to remove drivers without legal authorization from the roads.
DHS maintains that these operations are part of the Trump Administration's efforts to combat commercial license fraud and improve road safety.
