The latest clinical evaluation performed on Imane Khelif to determine a birth sex revealed that the Algerian boxer is a "biological male."

Alan Abrahamson, a journalist for 3 Wire Sports, had access to the results of a test Khelif had to undergo during the 2022 and 2023 International Boxing Association world championships. In these, the Algerian boxer "showed XY markers with male karyotypes."

Khelif's case has been public for years. However, it gained greater notoriety before the start of the 2024 Paris Olympics, an event in which the boxer not only participated in the women's category, but also won the gold medal in the whelterweight.

It was then that a campaign in favor of Khelif was driven despite controversy regarding the boxer's gender. The Algerian boxer was supported by personalities and institutions such as the International Olympic Committee (IOC).

The president of the IOC, Thomas Bach, went so far as to state that the criticism of Khelif was the product of "a disinformation campaign orchestrated from Russia."

Gaines: Those who support Khelif are "wrong"

Among the criticisms received, one of the most resounding came from Riley Gaines. Following the revelation of this latest medical report, the swimmer, who suffered defeat at the hands of a transgender rival, pointed out that those who said Khelif was a woman are "wrong."

"To all the people that insisted Imane Khelif was a woman because his passport said so, you were wrong. We were right," Gaines wrote in X.

Khelif has XY chromosomes, testicles and a micropenis

In November 2024, another medical report revealed that Khelif has XY chromosomes and testicles. Not only that, but the boxer also possesses a clitoris-shaped micropenis.

"Analysis by Array Comparative Genomic Hybridization (aCGH) showed that he carried the 46XY karyotype. And it confirmed the male formula, without alleviating a significant genetic imbalance," the report noted.
