A shooting occurred Wednesday at an office complex belonging to Citibank in the Tampa area in Florida, leaving two people dead, including the alleged attacker, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office .

The incident occurred shortly after noon at the bank's branch in Brandon, a town near Tampa. Authorities responded to an active threat alert and launched a large-scale operation to secure the buildings and evacuate employees.

Sheriff Chad Chronister noted that initial investigations suggest a targeted attack against a specific individual, although authorities have not yet revealed the identity of the suspect, the victim or the circumstances that led to the shooting.

"We believe this is a targeted incident," Chronister said in a statement released via the Sheriff's Office's official account on X. The agency also confirmed the death of the alleged attacker.

According to The Associated Press, officers responded to the business complex—comprising four three-story buildings where thousands of employees work—and began searching the premises as workers evacuated the site.

Meanwhile, Breitbart News, citing local media reports, reported that the victim was shot in the complex's cafeteria.

Authorities set up meeting points for evacuated workers and their families, while police teams continued their search operations.

In a statement reported by the AP, Citigroup acknowledged the incident and stated that it was cooperating with authorities during the investigation.

So far, authorities have not confirmed whether anyone else was injured, nor have they provided additional information about the possible motive for the attack.

The investigation remains open.
