Two dead in plane crash in Hawaii
According to several witnesses, the plane carrying the two victims was flying at very low altitude and ended up crashing into a building near Honolulu.
Two people were killed in a plane crash produced Honolulu, Hawaii. The two victims were the only two passengers flying aboard a plane that crashed into a building located near Daniel K. Inouye International Airport.
The event occurred this Tuesday at around 3 p.m. local time. According to what witnesses told local television station Hawaii News Now, the plane was flying at a low altitude before it crashed.
"I was sitting at my desk, and all of a sudden I saw a small plane fly past my office window, which is on the seventh floor. And I thought, 'Oh, it's really, really low,' and it started veering and turning back toward the airport, and then I heard a loud boom," explained Nancy Timko, a witness of the crash.
Another witness who was working near the site said she heard "a big boom" and then saw "a column of scary clouds of smoke."
After the impact, the authorities quickly rushed to the scene to try to rescue any possible injured and began the investigation. The surrounding roads were shut down for several hours, according to the Hawaii Department of Transportation (DOT), so traffic and infrastructure maintenance had to be stopped.
Shortly after the accident, Hawaii Governor Josh Green issued a statement to report what had happened and convey condolences to the victims' families.
