The ringleader of a group apprehended for a violent robbery in Dallas has been identified as a member of Tren de Aragua, according to The New York Post.

Wilmer Colmenares Gonzalez, 27, is a Venezuelan immigrant who reportedly entered the country last year. He was arrested in late September for a violent robbery in which he and three others allegedly pocketed $75,000 in jewelry.

Department of Homeland Security sources confirmed to The New York Post that the Venezuelan-born gang member entered the country in April 2023. He crossed illegally through Brownsville, Texas, with his wife and child.

They were released with an appointment to appear in court. They had also, according to the same report, applied for temporary protected status.

The robbery that shook Dallas

According to local reports, four immigrants led by Colmenares Gonzalez tied up a woman, threatened to cut off her fingers and beat her with a gun. When his accomplices were arrested, she managed to barricade herself in a house. The confrontation with the authorities lasted eight hours.

The other detainees were identified as Brayhan Torralba, 20, Alberto Martínez Silva, 34, and Manuel Hernández-Hernández, 28, who had been arrested and released before this last robbery. Like Colmenares Gonzalez, all are believed to be part of Tren de Aragua.
