Mexican actor and singer Adan Canto died Monday at the age of 42. The performer, known for his roles in "X-Men: Days of Future Past" and "Designated Survivor," died of appendiceal cancer.
It was his publicist, Jennifer Allen, who announced the news. She did so in a statement shared by AP informing of the actor's decision to keep his illness private:

Canto, who began his acting career in 2009, landed his first big role in 2013. That year, he landed a small role in the series "The Following," starring Kevin Bacon. A year later, in 2014, he signed on for his first film, "X-Men: Days of Future Past," where he played the superhero Sunspot. Along with this, he participated in the fictions "Mixology," "Narcos," "Second Chance" and "Blood and Oil." In 2016, Canto landed his other big role, that ofVice President Aaron Shore in Fox's fiction, "Designated Survivor."
The entertainment division of the television network, Fox Entertainment, reacted to the news. It did so in a statement released jointly with Warner Bros. Television and reported by Variety.
