Man arrested in Massachusetts for making death threats against Trump

The man was charged with eight counts of transmitting threatening interstate communications, a crime that carries penalties of up to five years in prison and $250,000 in fines.

(AFP) A man was arrested Wednesday in Massachusetts for threatening to kill President Donald Trump on several occasions via Facebook, the state prosecutor's office said.

According to a statement from the prosecutor's office, the suspect, 45-year-old Andrew Emerald, posted eight messages between May and July 2025 in which he threatened to kill or injure the president, whom he called a monster.

In his posts, he vowed to follow Trump to his Mar-a-Lago residence in Florida and "reduce it to ashes."

The man was charged with eight counts of transmitting threatening communications between states, an offense that carries penalties of up to five years in prison and $250,000 in fines.

Other similar cases

In March, a Virginia man was sentenced to more than two years in prison for sending death threats to the president.

Trump suffered an assassination attempt in July 2024, when a man shot at him at a campaign rally in Pennsylvania.
