JD Vance visits Church of the Holy Sepulcher in Jerusalem and other sacred sites

Vice President J.D. Vance visited the Church of the Holy Sepulcher in Jerusalem, Israel, for the purpose of paying homage to the site that, according to Catholic tradition, marks the place where Jesus Christ was buried after his crucifixion.

In that vein, the Republican also thanked "Franciscan monks who celebrated a private mass for my family and many of the Americans working for peace."

"They are a great credit to the Christian faith, and they were kind enough to take the time to minister to us at a very special moment. ... May the Prince of Peace have mercy on us, and bless our efforts for peace," the vice president stressed.
Vance's visit came a day after he met with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at his Jerusalem office.

As reported by the Prime Minister's Office, Vance and his wife, second lady Usha Vance, were welcomed by Netanyahu and his wife, Sara.

“A few days ago, we had our historic visit by President Trump that will be etched in the annals of our nation’s history.” Netanyahu said. “We’re fortunate today to have a visit by Vice President J.D. Vance.
