On Voz News, journalist Karina Yapor interviewed political analyst Luis Montes-Amaya, with whom she talked about the mayoral elections in New York, after the socialist Zohran Mamdani won the Democratic nomination after defeating former governor Andrew Cuomo in the party's primary, who will now run in the general election as an independent.

"Hopefully by September the candidate who is in third or fourth place will simply disappear from the polls so that this can be a contest between Cuomo and Mamdani or between second and first, which all indications are that it could be Cuomo vs Mamdani, to have a better chance of defeating Mamdani in November."
