House Freedom Caucus Chairman Andy Harris (R-Md.) explained that the consensus - which has yet to be approved by the committee - would allow Rep. Jodey Arrington (R-Texas), chairman of the Budget Committee, to "adjust the dials."

Hard-line conservatives and House Republican leaders reached consensus on the conference budget resolution shortly before a crucial vote. As such, the measure could advance in the Budget Committee.

House Freedom Caucus Chairman Andy Harris (R-Md.) explained that the agreement which has yet to be approved by the committee would allow Rep. Jodey Arrington (R-Texas), chairman of the Budget Committee, to "adjust the dials."

The deal would also allow the deficit impact limit on the tax section of President Trump's priority package to be raised, provided additional cuts are implemented in other areas of spending.

"It would also give teeth to a $2 trillion deficit reduction target outlined in the bill that was key for fiscal hawks," reviewed The Hill.

Moving the budget resolution out of committee would be the first step in unlocking the process Republicans want to use to pass Donald Trump's legislative priorities without Democratic votes.

"We have a bill that we believe had to be done rapidly to get the president the border funding as soon as possible. We believe it had that meaningful deficit reduction, and we believe it had to be able to advance the president’s tax policy. It all happens here," Harris indicated.
