Hunter Biden agrees to testify before the House Oversight Committee
Hunter's legal team announced that he will testify on Dec. 13, but under one condition: he will do so publicly and not behind closed doors.
Hunter Biden announced Tuesday that he will testify before the House Oversight Committee. His legal team stated that he will testify on Dec. 13 on Capitol Hill, although he will do so under one condition: he will speak publicly and not behind closed doors.
The president's son was requested to testify by the committee, led by the Republican Party. Days later, his lawyers announced that Hunter Biden granted the request.
Hunter's main lawyer, Abbe Lowell, made the announcement in a letter sent to House Oversight Chairman James Comer. The Daily Mail obtained access to the letter which reads:
Oversight Committee replies to Hunter Biden
James Comer replied to the letter sent by Lowell denying Hunter Biden the possibility of testifying in public. According to a post Comer made on X (formerly Twitter), Joe Biden's son will have to testify behind closed doors on Dec. 13.
However, Comer said, Republicans will not prevent Hunter from subsequently speaking in a public setting, albeit days after testifying before the House Oversight Committee:
