The U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi issued a statement Tuesday to Department of Justice (DOJ) employees in which she prioritized the prevention of child mutilation in the country through gender reassignment surgeries. Similarly, Bondi blamed not only the past administration of former President Joe Biden, but also the doctors and health professionals who perform these practices for "fraud and exploitation by the medical community toward parents and children who have fallen prey to radical gender ideology."

In the memo, the attorney general stated that "Pursuant to the President’s directive, I am issuing the following guidance to all Department of Justice employees to enforce rigorous protections and hold accountable those who prey on vulnerable children and their parents." Similarly, Bondi detailed that the DOJ will enforce "laws outlawing female genital mutilation,” investigate “violations of the Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act and False Claims Act,” and would be “promoting new legislation protecting children."

Bondi targeted doctors and health care professionals

Elsewhere in his statement, Bondi promised that the DOJ, during his tenure, would act as forcefully as possible to protect America's children from these practices. "Under my watch, the Department will act decisively to protect our children and hold accountable those who mutilate them under the guise of care. I am putting medical practitioners, hospitals, and clinics on notice: In the United States, it is a felony to perform, attempt to perform, or conspire to perform female genital mutilation (‘FGM’) on any person under the age of 18. That crime carries a maximum prison sentence of 10 years per count."

Also, the attorney general explained that any pharmaceutical company that misleads the public about the long-term effects such procedures and surgeries can bring would be investigated by the DOJ. "The Department of Justice will investigate and hold accountable medical providers and pharmaceutical companies that mislead the public about the long-term side effects of chemical and surgical mutilations," detailed Bondi, who also added that the DOJ is "directing the Civil Division’s Consumer Protection Branch to undertake appropriate investigations of any violations of the Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act by manufacturers and distributors engaged in misbranding by making false claims about the on- or off-label use of puberty blockers, sex hormones, or any other drug used to facilitate a child’s so-called ‘gender transition.'"

In comparing the current administration of President Donald Trump with Biden's, Bondi detailed that, while the Republican leader has sought to stop the promotion of gender reassignment surgerieson minors and has even issued an executive order titled "Protecting Children from Chemical and Surgical Mutilation," Biden appointed transgender Rachel Levine as the undersecretary of Health and Human Services in his administration, and promoted the transgender agenda by "welcoming transgender activists like Dylan Mulvaney to the White House."
