A Pew Research Center poll shows that a majority of Americans disapprove of Trump's economic strategy

The same poll found that the president's image also took a hit in the last month after he announced his tariff plan on the famous Liberation Day.

According to a recent survey published by Pew Research Center, Americans do not trust Donald Trump. As explained from the organization, the president obtained numbers far below those he had in this matter during the 2024 campaign, even compared to his first time in the White House.

According to the poll, conducted between April 7 and 13, 55% of US adults do not trust the president to make "good" decisions for the economy, one of Trump's historic high points.

"When it comes to the economy, Trump generates less trust today than he did in his first term or during the 2024 campaign," noted from Pew Research Center in the poll.

The same survey found that the president's image also took a hit in the last month, after he announced his tariff plan on the famous Liberation Day. According to its data, 40% support Trump's work, versus 47% who backed him at the end of February.

"Trump's current approval rating of 40% is on par with where he is at this point in his first term. It remains lower than other recent presidents in their first months in office," explained from Pew.

During the last election campaign against Kamala Harris, voters made it clear that they preferred Trump to handle the economy. This was the finding of dozens of polls conducted in 2024. One of them was the Wall Street Journal, which found that 52% opted for the Republican to handle the economy, while 40% chose the then-vice president.

On his economic agenda, the president expects Congress to approve his legislative mega-package via Budget Reconciliation. "President Trump’s America First agenda is not just tax cuts, border and defense funding, deregulation and unleashing American energy production, but it’s also – and the most necessary of these – reining in the runaway spending that threatens to bankrupt the United States of America," House Budget Committee Chairman Jodey Arrington (R-TX) recently expressed.
