Customs and Border Protection (CBP) revealed that Border Patrol agents arrested more than three dozen individuals on the terrorist watch list in a short three-month period of time at the southern border.

According to recent data provided by CBP, during the months of October, November and December 2022, 38 individuals were identified and detained who were on the list of known, suspected or associated terrorists.

This figure is extremely worrying when taking into consideration the number of people who manage to slip away from the officers. In fact, November of last year had the highest number of evasions at the border.

According to a report by Fox News, more than 73,000 migrants managed to enter the country illegally and circumvent the authorities, causing a complete lack of control at the border and great concern for those who are inside the country freely who don't know if there are traffickers, gang members and other types of criminals among them.

Detentions of immigrants

CBP also recently released figures on the number of migrant encounters over the last month of last year and they also set a new record for the border crisis.

According to the report, there were more than 250,000 apprehensions at the southern border, surpassing even the number of encounters in May 2022, which reached 241,136. This is despite the fact that the busiest months at the border are the summer months.

Figures refute Mayorkas

Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas recently stated that encounters with individuals from "target countries" had significantly decreased.

However, the CBP figures completely contradict the lawyer who is under investigation precisely because of the way he has dealt with the problems at the country's southern border.

"What’s been happening at the border the last two years continues to be a catastrophic crisis, and the White House, Secretary Mayorkas, and the open-borders advocates on the left continue to lie about it. Under the last Democratic president, 25,000 encounters was a borderline crisis — for the Biden administration, 10 times that number is simply business as usuall," said Mark Morgan, former CBP commissioner.
