Elon Musk announces that the Neuralink brain chip was successfully implanted in the first human

“Initial results show promising neural spike detection,” the billionaire wrote.

Elon Musk, founder and owner of the neurotechnology company Neuralink, announced on X (Twitter) that his company's brain chip was successfully implanted in the first human, achieving satisfactory results.

According to the magnate, the patient is recovering well after receiving the implant on Sunday.

This is the first successful operation after the United States Food and Drug Administration authorized the company in 2023 to conduct its first trial and test its implant in humans.

"The first human received an implant from @Neuralink yesterday and is recovering well. Initial results show promising neuron spike detection."

In a second post, the magnate announced that Neuralink's first product is called "Telepathy" and explained its functionalities. The device "Enables control of your phone or computer, and through them almost any device, just by thinking. Initial users will be those who have lost the use of their limbs. Imagine if Stephen Hawking could communicate faster than a speed typist or auctioneer. That is the goal."

Neuralink's first successful operation also comes after Musk's company was fined for violating US Department of Transportation (DOT) rules regarding the movement of hazardous materials, according to Reuters.
