Donald Trump screens 'Sound of Freedom' with Eduardo Verástegui: "You made this the hottest movie anywhere in the world."

The former president congratulated the team for the film, which will soon be presented in Congress.

The Sound of Freedom team was hosted by former President Donald Trump at his golf club in Bedminster, New Jersey. At an event with invited guests, the highest-grossing indie film since 2020 was screened, with cast members in attendance. Among the participants were Jim Caveziel, star of the film, and Eduardo Verástegui, producer of the film. Also in attendance was the real Tim Ballard, whom Caveziel plays and who recently came out in defense of the film.

The production thus gained the support of the Republican candidate for the White House, who congratulated the filmmakers for their work. "It's certainly a great movie. I can see why it's doing so well," Trump said. "You made the hottest movie in the world," Trump told Verástegui, with whom he joked about seeing him as president of Mexico someday.

Eduardo Verástegui has collaborated with Donald Trump in the past, and he has done it again to raise awareness about the danger of child trafficking. The Mexican filmmaker recalled that the United States is the world's largest consumer of child sex, and Mexico is its main supplier. Verástegui used the screening of Sound of Freedom in Bedminster to engage the presidential candidate in the fight against the scourge of child trafficking. "In Mexico an average of 57 children disappear every day, 3 every hour, almost 21,000 a year. This is a global problem and no country is exempt from it," Verástegui said in a press release following the event in Bedminster.

Sound of Freedom is proving to be a huge success. Despite its meager $14 million budget, the film has grossed more than $100 million in its first three weeks in U.S. theaters. The film has become more successful than other major productions currently showing in cinemas such as Indiana Jones and Elementary. Its producers announced that on August 31 it will be released in theaters in Mexico, the first country in which it will be screened in Spanish.

On July 25, the producers of Sound of Freedom will go to the U.S. Congress to present the feature film to lawmakers. Verástegui announced that the Speaker of the House, Kevin McCarthy, will participate in the event.
