DeSantis activates National Guard to deal with illegal immigration surge

"The failure of the Biden Administration falls on local law enforcement who lack the resources to deal with the crisis," he said in his executive order.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis activated the National Guard to deal with the wave of illegal immigrants entering the U.S. through the Florida Keys.

In an executive order issued Friday, DeSantis stressed that the Biden administration should "provide resources in support of local governments responding to the alarming influx of migrants landing in the Florida Keys, and providing additional support toward efforts to prevent further migrant landings on Florida’s shores."

The Keys, located in the southeastern part of the state, is a critical point where most of the boats filled with migrants disembark. DeSantis pointed out the ineffectiveness of the Biden Administration's policies:

As the negative impacts of Biden’s lawless immigration policies continue unabated, the burden of the Biden administration’s failure falls on local law enforcement who lack the resources to deal with the crisis. That is why I am activating the National Guard and directing state resources to help alleviate the strain on local resources. When Biden continues to ignore his legal responsibilities, we will step in to support our communities.
