This figure is significantly higher than that obtained in 2023 when 12.4 million people decided to watch the ceremony. It is also the most viewed edition of the gala since 2019. That year, 19.9 million viewers chose to tune in to the musical extravaganza on the small screen.
The most watched moment of the night, Variety reports, was during the 9:45 p.m. quarter hour. Stevie Wonder, Annie Lennox, Jon Batiste and Fantasia Barrino performed in that segment. They offered the In Memoriam show that brought together a total of 18.3 million viewers in front of the television.
The results of the streaming reproduction of the ceremony are also surprising. Offered by Paramount+, although its data is not known, the company assures that it saw an increase of 173% compared to views on the network of this same event in 2023. This data also makes it the most viewed gala on the streaming platform.
The Grammys were also very successful on social media. According to Billboard, the 2024 Grammy Awards dominated social media with 62.6 billion potential impressions. This figure makes it the most talked about entertainment event during 2024, reaching first position. A position it maintained for about 12 hours on the night from Sunday to Monday.
The Grammy audiences also stand out in the awards season, being the most watched gala so far this season. The Golden Globes improved its audience slightly but, however, still fell far short of the musical ceremony by only garnering 9.4 million viewers. The Emmy Awards had less luck. With 4.3 million viewers, this year's gala became the least spectated in history.
