At least five people injured in shooting during a charity event in Seattle

Democratic Mayor Bruce Harrell called the attack a "tragedy" and said, "There are too many guns in the wrong hands." Authorities are looking for the culprits.

At least five people were injured, two critically, on Friday in Seattle as a result of a shooting, according to local media reports and the Seattle Police Department. The attack occurred in the vicinity of a parking lot near a commercial area.

According to a Seattle Police Department release, a community solidarity event was taking place in the 9200 block of Rainier Avenue South. Police officers arrived following a report of a shooting. At that time they located several gunshot victims. The victims were transported to the hospital. Two of them, in their 20s, were taken to the emergency room in critical condition, according to the police.

Police said in their latest press release that they did not identify any suspects, but local media claim that authorities are looking for at least two people for the perpetration of the attack. The motives for the shooting are unknown at this time.

Seattle Mayor Bruce Harrell, a Democrat, traveled to the scene of the crime to condemn the events. Authorities said they did not understand how anyone could shoot at a charity event. "Honestly, this is really disturbing," said Police Department Chief Adrian Diaz. "Victims who were really just trying to do an outreach effort, trying to help people ... put people on the right path — and this is what they end up getting."
