After Hamas' brutal attack on Israel last Saturday, the lack of control on the border with Mexico takes on a new, much more threatening tone. From the Republican Party, especially through authorities and congressmen from bordering states, they have been warning for some time that this situation is "the number one threat to national security." The waves of illegal immigrants since Biden began his term have not stopped breaking records (the fiscal year, in the absence of September data, has already exceeded the 2022 data, the highest ever until now). Additionally, this year, the number of terrorism suspects detained has surpassed the sum of recent years, while Border Patrol agents warn that the real number is much higher due to the number of gotaways.
Several of the most relevant figures of the conservative party raised their voices again after the attacks, demanding that the Biden Administration provide a quick and forceful reaction that guarantees the safety of citizens to prevent something like the massacre of innocent civilians from being repeated in the country. Donald Trump, Ron DeSantis, Kevin McCarthy, Vivek Ramaswamy, Ashley Moody, and numerous national lawmakers expressed alarm over the border situation: "today it was Israel, tomorrow it could be us."
Trump: The same people who attacked Israel enter the US "through our COMPLETELY OPEN SOUTHERN BORDER"
The former president, through a publication in Truth Social, warned that "The same people that raided Israel are pouring into our once beautiful USA, through our TOTALLY OPEN SOUTHERN BORDER, at Record Numbers. Are they planning an attack within our Country?" Trump pointed out unequivocally the culprits of this situation: "Crooked Joe Biden and his BOSS, Barack Hussein Obama, did this to us!"
DeSantis calls for immediately closing the border
The governor of Florida and presidential candidate demanded that the Executive immediately close the border to protect citizens "from these real threats." In a post on X, DeSantis calls for "immediately closing the US southern border to ensure we are able to better protect Americans from these real threats."

McCarthy: "The number one threat is an open border"
The former president of the House warned of the risk that the current situation on the southern border poses for the country, especially with the current situation of US intelligence. In statements reported by Just The News , McCarthy said: "Looking at our own intelligence failures, we have to look to our border. In 2019, there were zero arrests of people on the FBI terrorist watchlist trying to come across our border. Just in this year alone, they're 151 from 160 different countries. In my own state, we caught two coming from Yemen on the terrorist watchlist; from China and others. Why are they coming to America? What do they have planned and who are they communicating with?"
For the former speaker, the border with Mexico is the number one threat to the country, and not climate change, as Biden proclaims. "The number one threat killing Americans is terrorism. The number one threat is an open border," he noted.

Ramaswamy: "If it can happen there, it can happen here"
The conservative candidate stressed that the "key lesson that the United States must learn from the attack on Israel: we cannot be complacent when it comes to defending *our own* borders. "If it can happen there, it can happen here." Ramaswamy criticized the situation in the bordering areas, and warned that this is not something exclusive to the borders with Mexico, but is also applicable to the north, an area that he recently visited precisely to denounce its precariousness.

The attorney general of Florida was very critical of Joe Biden, denouncing that, as a consequence of his border policies, more than 250 people on the terrorist list have been detained at the border since he took office.
