A24 presents the first trailer for 'Civil War,' Alex Garland's new film

Starring Kirsten Dunst, the film is a dystopia in which 19 US states decide to secede, causing a civil war.

The independent film studio A24 presented this Wednesday the first trailer for "Civil War," the new film by Alex Garland and the third project in which it collaborates with the production company after "Ex Machina" and "Men." The feature film, starring Oscar-winning actress Kirsten Dunst, tells what happens in the United States when 19 states decide to secede, thus starting a civil war.

Dunst thus puts herself in the shoes of a journalist who covers the various armed conflicts that break out in the country while, distraught, she tries to prevent the war from getting worse: "Everytime I’ve survived a war zone, I thought I was sending a warning home — don’t do this. But here we are," you can hear the protagonist of "Civil War" during the advance. Moments later, an armed person, played by Jesse Plemons, is heard ominously asking, "What kind of American are you?"

The production company A24 describes the film "Civil War" on its official website as "an adrenaline-fueled thrill ride through a near-future fractured America balanced on the razors edge."

The film, which will land in American theaters on April 26, 2024, completes its cast with the actor of the "Narcos" series, Wagner Moura; the performer in "Priscilla," Cailee Spaeny and the "Parks and Recreation" actor, Nick Offerman.
