Wisconsin police arrest young people for praying at drag queen show for children

It is a crime to cause a child to "view or listen to sexual activity." The young people who were arrested were reading the Bible in peaceful protest.

Police in Wisconsin arrested several young people who were peacefully protesting at a public drag queen show for children.

A video posted on social media shows several officers arresting a young man, identified as Marcus Schroeder while reading and quoting the Bible. One of the policemen can be seen aggressively snatching the microphone from his hands. The other grabs his arms to handcuff him and then takes him to his patrol car.

According to The Sentinel, the events took place in the city of Watertown (Wisconsin). The trans event, which was open to the public, was held there and was attended by a large number of children. In the footage released on social media, drag queens can be seen "dancing and gyrating in front of small children."

State law prohibits a "minor from viewing or listening to sexual activity."

Jason Storms recorded the video that went viral. He told The Sentinel that throughout the event there were more than 200 people who came to peacefully protest the show for targetting children. However, despite the public's "right to freedom of expression," the police arrived and "per orders from city leaders, arrested several young people."

“The police, per orders from city leaders, arrested several young people. Three were arrested earlier in the day while inside the park praying and talking to attendees, and then released with warnings,” said Storms, who serves as minister of evangelism at Mercy Seat Christian Church. “It was open to the public, thus the public's right to free speech carries with them. One was arrested later in the day for preaching on the public sidewalk outside the venue and is being charged with unlawful use of sound amplification and resisting arrest.”
