Harris County Police in Houston, Texas, have arrested a 20-year-old man for driving with a 12-year-old child hanging on to the roof of his SUV. A sheriff's deputy quickly proceeded to immobilize the vehicle and arrest the driver, who has been charged with child endangerment.
Detected 'red-handed' by an assistant who was responding to another notice
The offender was discovered when a patrol moved to break up an illegal vehicle event in a parking lot. While they were carrying out their mission, an assistant observed the vehicle with the child hanging from the roof, he intervened and stopped the car immediately due to the risk that it would access the Gulf Highway and the minor could potentially suffer serious life threatening injuries if he were to be thrown off the car.
Investigators told ABC13 that the 20-year-old suspect is a family friend of the 12-year-old and claimed he forgot the boy was sitting on the roof when he drove away near I-45. https://t.co/HdQPUld4yf
