Unstoppable crisis: number of illegal immigrants arriving outnumber babies being born

In November alone, Border Patrol recorded 190,000 encounters on the southern border.

Since Joe Biden was sworn in as president in January 2021, the southern border has seen record illegal immigration. In November 2023 alone, Border Patrol recorded 190,000 encounters with illegal immigrants, which also marked an increase in the number of illicit drug seizures, a figure that rose 35% from October to November. In this context, a new statistic emphasized the seriousness of the matter.

According to the popular statistics account Datahazard, since August, the number of illegal immigrants who arrived in the United States is greater than the number of babies born in the country.

"Since August, there are officially more arriving each month than there are children being born to American mothers. And these are just the official encounters -- we don't know how many avoided detection," said the account on X, formerly known as Twitter, attaching an image with the statistics.

Elon Musk's reaction

The South African tycoon was surprised by the statistic and did not hesitate to comment. "To give you a sense of the immense and growing size of illegal immigration," he wrote on the social media platform he bought in 2022.

This is not the first time that Musk has criticized the Biden Administration. He has been quite active in the Republican primaries. For example, he was part of Ron DeSantis' campaign launch and praised Tim Scott and Vivek Ramaswamy.

The border crisis does not stop

According to what the United States Customs and Border Protection (CBP) said to Fox News, during December, there were 276,000 encounters with illegal immigrants on the southern border, far surpassing November data and breaking the record established in September 2023.

"This new record number includes over 230,000 Border Patrol apprehensions of illegal immigrants in December, also the highest single month of apprehensions ever recorded for Border Patrol. We are now at over 760,000 migrant encounters since October 1st, making the first quarter of fiscal year 2024 also the highest ever recorded. That's a population size bigger than Seattle in just three months," said Fox News journalist Bill Melugin.
