The Border Patrol (BP) is on alert after the Mexican military found 10 homemade bombs on the borders of Sonora and the arrest by Arizona agents of an individual carrying an AK-47 and numerous rounds of ammunition. Officers from both countries went to the area after receiving notice of gunfire on the Mexican side. The situation has caused the governor of Arizona, Katie Hobbs, to sign an executive order to deploy the National Guard to the border while she once again demands help from Washington.

"Extreme caution"
Due to the record-breaking number of immigrants crossing the southern border, especially in Arizona, Border Patrol agents are facing a new threat with human traffickers and cartels sending armed hitmen to transport illegal immigrants on the other side of the wall. Additionally, according to Fox News, Border Patrol agents have been asked to "exercise extreme caution" and "report any possible armed subjects approaching the border with possible explosive devices."
Tucson agents witnessed gunfire on the Mexican side of the border. The Mexican military deployed to the area found the explosives and alerted the U.S. authorities. After the confrontation, which Border Patrol sources suggest was two rival cartels fighting for control of the area, a BP supervisor arrested a subject armed with an AK-47 assault rifle, two full magazines, loose ammunition and a gun.
According to Breitbart, explosives are commonly used by cartels in their turf wars for control of access points to the United States. Violence between rival criminal groups is at unprecedented levels, given the lack of measures from the Mexican government. They have even started using commercial drones to drop bombs on their enemies.
Hobbs deploys the National Guard to the border and demands help from Biden
The situation has gotten to the point that the governor of Arizona signed an executive order last Friday deploying the National Guard to the border. Hobbs warned that "Arizona can't stand alone" and once again demanded that the federal administration send more resources and personnel so that the state can "reopen the Lukeville crossing, manage the flow of migrants and maintain a secure, orderly and humane border.
