Missouri high school names a boy as 'homecoming queen'

The winner, Tristan Young, beat four girls in the competition at Oak Park High School located in Kansas City.

Oak Park High School located in Kansas City, Mo., designated Tristan Young, a boy who identifies as a girl, as "homecoming queen." It is not the first time that something like this has happened in this school, as in 2015 another boy won the award.

Young beat out four girls. The school posted a photo of the winner with a bouquet of flowers and a crown on X (formerly known as Twitter) accompanied by the phrase, "Our queen."

The Libs of TikTok account shared the news and spoke with two mothers of Oak Park High School students. One of them stated, "I’m appalled by NKC Schools’ continued support of the LGBT agenda." The other mother was more forceful in her statements:

As a woman, it breaks my heart to see these girls get passed over and a man stealing what is rightfully theirs. As a parent I’m enraged that the school district is celebrating this on all of their social media accounts (conveniently locking down comments). On the other hand I’m broken-hearted because I know the students voted for him. Although Kansas City is a liberal leaning area of Missouri it is still more conservative than most cities. I don’t know how we’ve reached this point or how to turn it around.

As this mother stated, the school hid the comments in its social media post to avoid receiving critical responses.
