Mexican actress Cecilia Priego dies at 36

The 36-year-old Tabasco performer who starred in 'The Queen of the South" was diagnosed with cancer in 2021.

The Mexican actress Cecilia Priego died at the age of 36 after being diagnosed with cervical cancer in 2021. Her father, singer Freddy Persa, announced her passing on social media. She was known worldwide for starring in The Queen of the South and Pobre Diabla.

"Today my flock is very sad, one of my sheep is leaving me, I am sure that God will take her to be with his own," posted Freddy Persa on social media to announce the death of the Tabasco actress.

Cecilia Priego gained fame for her roles in several series for Netflix and Latin networks. It all started with soap operas such as Pasión Morena, Pobre Diabla, Orfanas and Por Siempre Tuya. She gained international recognition for starring in the screen adaptation of Arturo Pérez Reverte's novels, The Queen of the South.
