English soccer and Manchester United legend Sir Bobby Charlton has died at age 86. The team and the Premier League confirmed the news on social media:

For many experts, Sir Bobby Charlton is the best English soccer player in history. He played 758 games for Manchester United and he scored 249 goals. He won the European Cup in 1968. He also played one season for Preston North End and another for the Irish team Waterford United.
He won the World Cup with Manchester United in 1966. Among his individual distinctions, he won the Golden Ball in 1966 and Queen Elizabeth II granted him the title of Sir in 1994.
Sir Bobby Charlton was one of the survivors of the tragic Munich air crash in 1958. There were 49 people on the plane, including the entire Manchester United squad. Several of his teammates died.
