Jonathan Isaac criticizes women's soccer team for disrespecting national anthem

The NBA star said the team should do the right thing and be proud to represent the country in the 2023 World Cup. Most of the players did not sing the anthem before their game.

NBA star Jonathan Isaac spoke with renowned host Megyn Kelly to discuss national politics. During the conversation, he referred to the controversy generated by the women's soccer team for disrespecting the national anthem.

The NBA star said the women's national soccer team should do the right thing and be proud to represent the country at the 2023 World Cup. "It would only benefit us for them to do the right thing and to share their pride. We should understand that being Americans binds us together," Isaac a said during the program.

Last week, a controversy arose over the players’ lack of enthusiasm when the national anthem is played. The images of the players during the pre-match against Vietnam generated a lot of criticism, both on social media and from journalists.

When the national anthem played at Eden Park Stadium, the members of the women's national team did not raise their hands to their hearts or sing along with the music. Only five of the eleven players perform this gesture to show respect for the flag and the country.

"I really think her version of what a feminist is, what it means to be an empowered woman, at least as an American woman, means that you have to hate your country," Megyn Kelly highlighted during her show when analyzing the images.
