Joe Rogan renews deal with Spotify: $250 million and an end to exclusivity

“The Joe Rogan Experience” will be available on various on-demand content platforms.

Spotify confirmed Friday that it renewed its contract with Joe Rogan, host of the popular podcast “The Joe Rogan Experience.” The show has the most listeners on the platform in the United States and in the world.

The agreement will feature some new terms. First, Rogan will be permitted to share his content on other platforms. Until now, the comedian and former UFC commentator’s podcast was only available on Spotify due to the agreement signed by both in 2020. The second change is compensation. Rogan will receive $250 million, according to information from The Wall Street Journal. Although the Swedish company reported that the commitment will last several years, it did not specify how many.

"I always feel like, in starting this podcast, I stumbled into this fantastic accidental education just by being interested in talking to people, and being fortunate enough that people want to listen," Rogan said in an interview published by the streaming company announcing the agreement. "These conversations have changed the way I think about life immeasurably and continue to do so. I feel extremely fortunate to be able to do it."
