Global Intifada: Pro-Hamas group targets Jewish businesses in NY

The organization Within Our Lifetime publishes a map with the locations of media outlets, businesses and landmark buildings in this community and calls for "direct actions."

A group of pro-Hamas activists has called for "direct actions" to "globalize the intifada" while publishing on social networks the addresses of media outlets, businesses and landmark Jewish buildings in New York. In an Instagram post - now deleted - the organization Within Our Lifetime, uses the terrorist group's terminology to wish "that this map will serve as a call for every cause to act in their own interest. As we do so, we uplift one another’s struggles and free Palestine from the river to the sea" However, the organization does maintain another publication on this social network in which it locates NGOs that it accuses of financing Jewish settlers.

"Direct actions" to bring the intifada "from Palestine to New York"

In the publication that called to globalize the intifada "from Palestine to New York," the organization - which has more than 121,000 followers- pointed out that "each of the sites" reflected on the map "is tied to the ongoing genocide in Gaza and the settler-colonization of Palestine." The post called for "direct actions" to be carried out in the indicated areas.

Each of sites on this map is tied to the ongoing genocide in Gaza and the settler-colonization of Palestine. They reflect a network of dispossession, policing, prisons, surveillance, counterinsurgency, war, destruction, imperialism an militarization across the globe, with the mass media complex which manufactures consent for genocide acting as tools of the oppressor. These sites are multi-purpose assets for some of the system's most powerful perpetrators of violence.

Call to harass the headquarters of Jewish NGOs

In a second post, the pro-Hamas group points to Jewish NGOs, which it accuses of financing Jewish settlers. The post includes a forceful "know your enemy" and calls to "make these locations a stop on your protests. Picket and leaflet outside of them, make supporters of genocide uncomfortable!"

In addition, they regret that "due to the US tax code, non-profit organizations are exempt from taxes and any donation made to them is tax deductible. Zionist organizations have taken advantage of this to essentially receive subsidies from the US government to commit genocide and ethnic cleansing throughout Palestine."

Police deployed protection at designated sites

In statements reported by the New York Post, a spokesperson for the Big Apple City Council pointed out that the Police are aware of these messages and are prepared to protect these places . Additionally, he accused the organization of using " hateful rhetoric that seeks to divide New Yorkers."

The NYPD is aware of a social media post urging ‘direct action’ towards several institutions in the city and is deploying resources to protect public safety at these locations. But to be clear, threatening businesses and organizations and referring to them as the ‘enemy’ is exactly the kind of hateful rhetoric that seeks to divide New Yorkers, but it won’t work, because we are better than that.

"Hatred of the heart leads to hatred of the hands"

Several Democratic politicians condemned the organization's posts, calling them an "unacceptable invitation to senseless violence." The vice president of the NY Board of Rabbis, Rabbi Joseph Potasnik, denounced that these publications are “a message that glorifies physical attacks against Jews.” Intifadas are targeted attacks against Jews. Hatred of the heart leads to hatred of the hands."
