The latest statement from Xi Jinping's communist regime has further escalated tensions in the region. The Chinese Defense Ministry warned that it may resort to the "use of force" against Taiwan if the Taiwanese government continues to deploy military units in the waters separating the two nations.

"We do not promise to renounce the use of force against separatist activities in favor of Taiwan independence and against outside interference," said Wu Qian, a spokesman for China's Defense Ministry, in a statement reported by the Daily Mail.

In addition to these remarks, Wu downplayed the concerns arising from the recent military live-fire test conducted by the People's Liberation Army (PLA) in the Tasman Sea, labeling it an "exaggeration." These drills resulted in the diversion of several commercial flights carrying passengers and drew criticism from the governments of Australia and New Zealand.

This is not the first threat from Beijing against Taipei and its allies. In December 2024, Zhang Xiaogang, another spokesman for China's Defense Ministry, stated that if Taiwan were to threaten China's national sovereignty and territorial integrity, the communist regime would bolster the PLA and respond by "crushing" any separatist attempts.

In response to this warning, Taiwan decided to conduct its first war drill to prepare both its authorities and the civilian population.

In recent days, several incidents have occurred surrounding the ongoing, albeit non-warlike, dispute between China and Taiwan. In response to live-fire military exercises conducted by the communist regime in the Tasman Sea and the sighting of numerous Chinese fighter jets and armed vessels near its shores, Taipei mobilized its Navy and Air Force.

Additionally, Taiwan's Coast Guard detained the Chinese crew of a Togolese ship, accusing them of intentionally severing an undersea fiber optic cable owned by Taipei.
